Obituary For Hannah M. Wilkin
Hannah M. Wilkin March 5, 1936-Oct. 23, 2022 Hannah M. Wilkin, 86, Altoona, passed away peacefully Sunday. Born in Canandaigua, NY, Hannah was the daughter of the late Beveridge D. and Mae (Douglass) Means. Hannah married Arthur E. Wilkin, Jr. on April 9, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canandaigua, NY. Hannah is survived by her loving husband of 64 years and her six children: Barbara W. Haubrich (Joseph G.) of Shaker Heights, OH; Sue W. Dubbeling (Dayton W.) of Norfolk, VA; Lorraine W. Molitor (Bruce E.) of Mt. Gilead, OH; Carol W. Amidi of Pittsburgh, PA; Timothy J. Wilkin (Laura A.) of Kirkland, WA; and Gregory J. Wilkin (Sherri K.) of Milton, GA. She was incredibly proud of her thirteen adult grandchildren and her two great- grandsons. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Wilkin, and her brother, Joseph D. Means. Hannah graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1954 and became a Registered Nurse in 1957 after graduating from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, NY. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Altoona, the League of Women Voters and her local bridge group. Hannah was a graceful, natural athlete who loved swimming, playing tennis, ice skating, bowling and golfing, which was her favorite sport. She had a very special gift connecting with people and animals. She was a conversationalist with a magnetic and comforting personality that attracted others. Children and animals were particularly partial to her. Hannah was extremely proud of her family and active in their schooling and activities. She loved spending time with grandchildren and her great-grandsons. She also enjoyed RV’ing across the country with her husband, visiting many National Parks, meeting new people, sewing, quilting, knitting and bird watching. Hannah also enjoyed giving of her time as a nurse in the community for various causes. Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511 20th St., Altoona, Pa. 16602 with Fr. Lubomir Strecok, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in the form of Mass intentions.
