Obituary For Harriet A. Mancha
Harriet A. Mancha Nov. 27, 1944-Dec. 26, 2020
Harriet A. Mancha, 76, Altoona, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday. She was born in Alabama, daughter of the late Harry M. Mancha and Jessie L. (Wilson) and lived with her family until 1960. It was in 1989 that Harriet came to reside in Altoona, under the care of Family Services. She loved and was loved by everyone she touched in the 31 years she lived here. The last few years of her life were spent at the Whittier and Oak Ave. residences where she made a huge impact on everyone she met. Harriet was a ball of energy, love, faith and fire. Her mother Jess instilled in her a strong faith in God and Harriet prayed very often for many people. She had an incredible memory and a vivid imagination, which often culminated in the most wonderful stories. Harriet loved music, particularly Elvis, dancing, playing guitar and was always dressed to the hilt with her many bracelets and necklaces. She was spunky, independent, opinionated and most definitely her own boss. The epitome of resilience, Harriet endured numerous surgeries recently and came through with flying colors. She created strong emotional bonds with those that supported her and she always remembered those who loved her. She is survived by her guardian for the past 20 years, Sandra Wagner of Tyrone, Tammy Bradley who helped care for Harriet for 28 years and the many support and staff members of Family Services and the other support services that helped care for Harriet for the past 31 years. Harriet had retired from Skills of Central PA, Inc. and was a former member of Fourth Lutheran Church. A graveside service for Harriet will be held at noon on Tues., Jan. 5, 2021 at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harriet’s memory to: Family Services, 2022 Broad Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601. Arrangements by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc. Condolences can be made at www.stevensfamilyfuneralhomes.com or Stevens Family Funeral Homes Facebook.
