Harry Russell McGunigal, Jr.

Harry Russell McGunigal, Jr., 68, Altoona, passed away Thursday morning at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Harry Russell and Bessie (Bare) McGunigal, Sr.

Harry married Carmen M. Piccirilli on August 2, 2003 in Altoona.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carmen of 21 years; three daughters: Dr. Amber Lynn Valeri (Matt) of Reading, Danielle Nichole Wallack (Dave) of Denver, CO and Andrea Rose Burk (Nick) of Portage; two grandchildren: Sophia and Olivia Valeri and a third, due in December, Mila Burk; his three sisters: Cynthia Holsinger (Terry) and Sandra Edkins both of Hollidaysburg and Sylvia Burns (John) of Tipton; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family.

Harry was a 1974 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School. He retired from McLanahan Corporation in 2019, as a pattern maker, after 45 years of service.

He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg. Harry was a life member of the Hollidaysburg Phoenix Volunteer Fire Co. since 1974. He enjoyed woodworking, model trains and belonged to the Altoona Model Railroaders Association. Harry was a ham radio operator and belonged to the Horseshoe Amateur Radio Club.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Monday, October 21, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with his brother-in-law, Pastor Jeffrey Piccirilli. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
