Helen Evey Garver, 88, of Altoona, died Saturday at her residence. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Merle and Dorothy (Miller) Evey. She married Hugh Garver on June 6, 1952, in Altoona.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years; a son, Mark Garver of Altoona; two daughters: Linda (Hugh) Reilly of Altoona and Betsy (Dave) Mayhue of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren: Rachel (Brad) Yorgy, Brandi (Rob) Snowberger, Kris (Erin) Mayhue, Josh Mayhue and Brianne Mayhue; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ronnie Evey.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Merle Evey.

Helen was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School and a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women and Deborah Circle. She was also a member of the Woodview Garden Club and enjoyed playing pinochle with her card club friends and volunteering for Meals On Wheels for over 20 years.

Services for Helen will be held at the convenience of the family. Committal will be held at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
