Helen M. Watters

March 26, 1933 – January 19, 2025

Helen M. Watters, 91, Altoona, passed away Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Peter and Theresa (Grassinger) Winklbauer. On February 7, 1953, she married Paul K. Watters who preceded her in death on April 24, 1994.

Helen is survived by four children: Paula Burr (Michael) of Melbourne Beach, FL, Jan Stoehr (Doug) of Duncansville, Thomas Watters (Jeanie) of Medford Lakes, NJ, and Jill Watters of Altoona; six grandchildren: Matt Pulcinello, Paul Pulcinello, Rachel Orr (Andrew), Justin Page, Julie Sharbaugh (Troy), and Cody Watters; four great-grandchildren: Dominic Pulcinello, Giana Pulcinello, Paige Sharbaugh, and Emmie Sharbaugh; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Frank X. Grassinger, John Peter Winklbauer, Teresa Folcarelli, and Ernest “Bill” Winklbauer.

Helen was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and retired as an office clerk with Wissingers IGA.

She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

She was also a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns and was a volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry.

Helen especially enjoyed going shopping at yard sales and greenhouses and traveling with her family.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Msgr. Stanley Carson, Celebrant.

Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry, 1523 Adams Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 in Helen’s memory.
