Obituary For Imelda M. Ayers

Imelda M. Ayers Nov. 3, 1931 – Sept. 22, 2022

Imelda M. Ayers, 90, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday afternoon at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 3, 1931 in Altoona, daughter of the late Jacob W. and Grace M. (Lilly) Frederick. Imelda married Lloyd R. Ayers, M.D. who preceded her in death in 1999. Imelda graduated from Altoona Catholic High School and was a member of St. Therese of The Child Jesus Catholic Church. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg. Imelda retired from the Altoona Center in 1991. Surviving are one daughter, Lisa Broadrick (Mark) of Altoona; four sons: Stephen Koeck, and Gary Koeck (Kathleen) of Altoona, Mark Koeck (Julian) of Boston and Kevin Koeck of Claysburg; one brother, Robert A. Frederick of Altoona; two granddaughters: Erin Bush and Grace Broadrick; three grandsons: Jason Koeck, Jeremy Koeck and Matthew Koeck; eight great-grandchildren: Andrew, Wesley, Alexander, Wyatt, Camden, Isabella, McKenna and Ayden. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Clara A. Radwanski, M. Rita Greiner and Teresa A. Rothrauff; three brothers: William R. Frederick, John R. Frederick and Bernard J. Frederick. Imelda was known and loved for her kindness. Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, September 26, 2022 at St. Therese of The Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona with Fr. D. Timothy Grimme officiating. Committal will be held at St. Thomas Acquinas Cemetery, Ashville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Altoona Food Bank, 2318 N. Branch Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601 or St. Vincent DePaul Food for Families, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601.
