Irene M. Baker

Irene M. Baker, 89, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona following a brief illness.

She was born in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late William and Hilma (Herrala) Smith. Irene married Mr. Sharon B. Baker, the love of her life, on Christmas Day 1953 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2021.

Irene is survived by her four children: David Baker (Donna) of Bellwood, Gary Baker of Altoona, Charlotte Baker of Reisterstown, MD and Linda Lear (Rick) of Altoona; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Parrish of Lakemont and brother-in-law, Dale Baker.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte McMasters.

Irene was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School and was a member of 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. Irene loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 6-8 pm, Sunday, September 10, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, Pa 16602 and from 10-11, Monday, September 11, 2023 with a funeral service to follow at 11 am in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Barry R. Folmar. Committal will be held at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
