Irene V. Bathurst

Irene V. Bathurst, 102, Altoona, passed away Friday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Irene was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Valentine B. and Bertha (Stopper) Raible. On October 25, 1944 she married Donald L. Bathurst, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1983.

She is survived by two nieces: Judy Havron and Joyce McIntire; a great niece, Julie Frederick; and Julie’s children: Rachael and Alex Frederick.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Ralph Raible and Marie Smith; and a nephew, David Raible.

She was a graduate of Altoona High School and went to secretary school.

She retired as a bookkeeper for Raible’s Warehouse. She and her husband were previously the owners of Bathurst’s Atlantic Gas Station.

Irene was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Norris, Celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
