Jack S. Scott, 85, Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday at his residence. He was born in Williamsport, the son of the late Warren M. and Viola E. (Criswell) Scott, Jr.
Jack married Diane Louise Scheungrab on June 22, 1963, she preceded him in death on May 8, 2024.
He is survived by his brother, Bill Scott of Hollidaysburg, and his sister, Donna Hallman of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob, James and Warren Scott.
Jack was a high school graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, having served for 5 ½ years. He traveled to Okinawa for 26 months and returned home to Camp Lejeune for 1 ½ years and Paris Island for 2 years. Jack then was a rifle instructor for 1 ½ years and received a Good Conduct Medal.
He retired from the Altoona Police Department after 17 years of service and then from the PA. Department of Corrections after 11 years.
Jack was an avid Altoona Area High School sports fan and enjoyed being part of the ASA Umpire Association for 25 years.
He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering with his 1957 classic Chevy when he was well enough to.
Friends will be received from 4-6 pm, Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2716 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601, with Fr. James Dugan, celebrant.
Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
