Obituary For James "Jimmy" Luciano

James “Jimmy” Luciano June 10, 1933-Aug. 12, 2021

James “Jimmy” Luciano, 88, Altoona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Thursday at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona the son of the late Mary DeAntonio Wilt. James married Rita Ciambotti on Oct. 4, 1958 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Altoona. She preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2019. Jimmy is survived by a son, Michael (Shelly) Luciano; two daughters: Linda Drabic and Lori Luciano-Pollard all of Altoona; six grandchildren: Lisa, Jennifer, Taylor, Andrea, Jimmy and Heather; three great-grandchildren: Mason, Charlotte and Sophia; two sisters-in-law, Marian Fultz and Gloria Ciambotti both of Altoona. Jimmy was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He drove for Lafferty Trucking. Jimmy retired as Supervisor of Maintenance at St. Therese School where he coached girls’ and boys’ basketball for several years. In 2006, he was awarded the Prince Gallitzin Cross. He was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Jimmy enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren playing sports and taking drives to the Amish farms, singing and watching his favorite TV shows. Friends will be received from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2021, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, Altoona, Fr. D. Timothy Grimme, celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the Blair County Honor Guard.
