Obituary For James M. Sheridan

James M. Sheridan March 7, 1930-Dec. 24, 2021

James M. Sheridan, 91, Hollidaysburg, departed this life for his eternal home Friday at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Pittston, Pa. the son of the late John and Marjorie (Curly) Sheridan. Jim married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Rutkowski on May 21, 1957, she preceded him in death on March 31, 1993. Jim is survived by his son, David J. Sheridan of Altoona; daughter, Susan A. (Forrest) Granlund of Dublin, OH; grandson, Chase W. Granlund; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Jack and Phil Sheridan and a sister, Miggs Ward. Jim was a graduate of Pittston High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean War. He retired in 1986 from the Pennsylvania State Police as a Corporal after 30 years of service. Jim was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg and The Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed golfing, going to retiree breakfasts and gathering at the Hollidaysburg YMCA with his friends. Jim was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler football fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always happy and out-going, loved by everyone. Jim always wore a smile and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends will be received from 3-6 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a funeral service will be held at 6 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Deacon Chuck Ahearn. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
