James T. Porta

October 23, 1967- August 12, 2023

James T. Porta, 55, Altoona, died Saturday at UPMC Altoona after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born in Altoona, son of the late James J. Porta Jr. and Carol A. (McCann) Porta.

He is survived by two sisters: Anne Adams (John) of Altoona and Katherine Davis of Roaring Spring; a brother, William Porta (fiancée, Kim Ciccarella) of Altoona; three nieces: Katelyn, Carolyn and Angelyn Adams; a nephew, Dalton Davis; and a great-niece, Addilyn.

Jim was a 1986 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. He had been employed for the past 15 years at Wal-Mart, East Freedom and had previously worked at Bi-Lo/ Riverside Markets. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona.

He enjoyed throwing darts and shooting pool and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.

Friends will be received from 4 pm until the 6 pm funeral service Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023 in the Memorial Chapel of The Stevens Mortuary, Fr. Lubomir Strecok, officiant. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
