James W. Moser

December 22, 1932-November 14, 2023

James W. Moser, 90, Altoona, peacefully passed away Tuesday evening at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late James J. and Helen M. (Greiner) Moser.

Jim married Kathleen A. Clinger-Burket in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; six children: James I. Moser of Woodbine, MD, Glenn E. Moser (Teresa) of Florida, Mary E. Zempolich (Stephen) of Clifton, VA, Joyce E. Ladd (Douglas) of Glenwood, MD, Diane M. Tuncer (Kemal) of Kensington, MD and Linda A. Wells of Clarksville, TN; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-children: Jeffrey Burket (Maria) of Pittsburgh and Martin Burket of Altoona.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Harshberger.

He was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. Jim went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University and his Master of Science degree in administration and management from George Washington University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attaining rank of Captain while serving during the Korean Conflict in Europe and North Africa.

Jim retired in 1996 as an Electrical Engineer from the National Security Agency in Maryland. He had previously worked at IBM in Maryland and Penelec in Altoona.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.

Jim had belonged to the Altoona Maennerchor, Bavarian Aid Society, Swiss Club and the Unter Uns. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, a volunteer at Garvey Manor, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Habitat for Humanity.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 623 E. Third Street Bellwood, PA 16617, celebrated by Fr. Michael Pleva. Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.

    So sorry for your loss he was a wonderful respectful man I loved the days he was at Garvey he made me chuckle saying he had a bag of mending for his wife when we got all the residents to mass he would say it's going to be ok because I was in charge our little joke between us he told me about his wonderful wife and family he was great man he will be missed by this care helper 🙏❤️
