Obituary For Jane A. Piccirilli

Jane A. Piccirilli July 26, 1930 - Jan. 22, 2021

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend Jane Ann (Luciano) Piccirilli, passed peacefully to life eternal on January 22, 2021, surrounded by love. Jane was born in 1930, the first of nine children, to Guy and Rose Luciano. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Guy, Joe and Mike Luciano, and her husband of 60 years, Carmen J. Piccirilli. She is survived by her children Steven, Karen Laughlin, Claudia Brown (Clyde), Cynthia (Catherine Wright), Carmen McGunigal (Harry), and Jeffrey, 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Nick, Anthony, Bob, Rita, and Frank Luciano, her sister-in-law’s Joan, Janet, Joline, Patty, and Yvonne Luciano, and Sabina Pierannunzio. Jane’s children were certainly her pride and joy. She and Dad taught by example, instilling in their children a deep love of family, a strong work ethic, a sense of service, simple honesty and integrity, a respect for all people, and the value of education. Jane was especially proud that all of her children went to college, and became good parents and accomplished and decent adults. In addition to raising a family of six children, Jane retired from the Altoona Area School District after 26 years as the cafeteria manager of Roosevelt Jr. High School. She volunteered another 17 years at Logan Elementary School where her daughter Carmen taught. Jane spent the past seven years living in Virginia, and for a time was a Red Cross volunteer at the hospital where her daughter Cindy practiced medicine. Even as her health declined, she was known for her ready smile, caring kindness, grateful attitude and thoughtfulness. Jane was devoted to her Catholic faith, loved to dance, treasured her close-knit family, was a wonderful cook, a devoted homemaker and loving sister, mother and grandmother. We are grateful to have so many rich and wonderful memories. There will be a public viewing at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, on Wednesday, January 27, from 1-3 and 5-7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 28, at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. Stanley Carson as celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.stevensfamilyfuneralhomes.com or Stevens Family Funeral Homes Facebook.

Carmen. I have fond memories of both your parents. Your dads store in Hollidaysburg, and all the years I taught at Roosevelt where your mom worked. She was wonderful to all the teachers there. When I taught at Logan, again she was wonderful to work with. I will always have wonderful memories of her. I will miss dearly. Jack Sears
