Jane Thecla Shover

September 23, 1927-March 19, 2025

Mrs. Jane T. (Brophy) Shover, 97, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully, Wednesday the 19th at her residence in Kilmarnock, Virginia. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Alice Mary (McCahill) Brophy.

Jane is survived by her children, Michael Shover, Molly Cash (Doug) and Erin Shover; six grandchildren: Jessica Springer, Matthew Shover, Emily Lenz (Jake), Caitlin DeNillo (Nick), Michael Cash and Alexander Quicksell; three great-grandchildren: Moria DeNillo, Thomas and Brody Lenz; sister, Frances Chramek and family friend, Brooke Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harry T. “Sam” Shover; also her sisters: Elizabeth “Bette” Osman and Mary Alice “Sr. Michelle” Brophy.

Jane loved to garden and grew the most beautiful flowers. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and cross-stitch. Jane loved to “jitterbug with Sam” to the tunes from the 1940’s. She cherished her family time, especially the annual Ocean City, Maryland beach trips. Jane was a loving wife, generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Stevens Memorial Chapel, 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, with Msgr. Michael Becker. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
