Janet M. (Haley) Hilton

February 22, 1943-August 3, 2024

Janet M. (Haley) Hilton, 81, of Altoona passed away peacefully at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after a brief illness. Janet was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ella (Geier) Haley. She married her high school sweetheart, George C. Hilton on August 29, 1964, he preceded her in death in June of 1972.

She is survived by her sons Stephen Hilton (Alicia) of State College and Richard Hilton (Sherry) of Florida; a sister Patricia Haley of Lakemont; as well as her grandchildren: Alex Hilton and Kayla Hilton both of Florida, Michael and Matthew Hilton of State College. She also has several great-grandchildren whose pictures she was quite proud to show off.

After her husband George's death in 1972, Janet pursued a degree in education from Penn State University. She proudly served as an elementary school teacher at several schools in the Diocese of Altoona/Johnstown until her retirement.

She was an avid churchgoer and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church until she could no longer attend at which time, she continued practicing her faith watching services on TV almost daily.

Janet enjoyed playing the scratch-offs, watching her favorite shows and doing sudoku puzzles to pass the time.

At Janet’s request, there will be no viewing or public service. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery beside her late husband George.
