Janet N. Ruscio

April 25, 1934-June 3, 2024

Janet N. Ruscio, 90, Altoona, passed away Monday evening at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Spinley City, Penn. The daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Crilley) Gardina.

Janet married Vincent Ruscio at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, he preceded her in death in 1977.

Surviving are three sons: Bruce Ruscio of Waterford, VA, Brian Ruscio (Diana) of Martinez, CA and Brad Ruscio (Krista) of Doylestown; two daughters: Lisa Jacobs (Jim) of Altoona and Renee Hoover (Henry) of Ebensburg; five grandchildren: Leslie Hartos (Brian), Lauren Fix (Mike), Alivia, Matthew and Marisa; four great-grandchildren: Luke, Logan, Christian and Amelia.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Ralph, Jack, Verne and Ray Gardina.

Janet was a graduate of Gallitzin High School. Later in life she went to work for 17 years as a Manager for Uni-Mart, prior to that, she took loving care of her home and family.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Janet was an avid dog lover, enjoyed reading a good book or working crossword puzzles. She also was a big Perry Mason fan, but truly loved cooking, canning and baking for her loved ones.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am, Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 6th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, with Fr. John Lynam, celebrant. Committal will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are in care of The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
