Jean M. Gallagher November 24, 1951 – March 17, 2023

Jean M. Gallagher, 71, Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. Jean was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward and Hilda (Carlheim) Taylor. On October 20, 1973, she married Robert P. Gallagher, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband; two children: Michelle Kidwell (Doug) of Louisville, KY and Robert P. Gallagher III of Altoona; and two sisters: Anne Kauffman (Raymond) of Altoona and Ruth Peretich (David) of Murrysville. Jean was a 1969 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and a graduate of Altoona School of Commerce. She retired as a secretary from the State of PA Workers Comp Division. Jean was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. She spent much of her time doing cross stitch, crocheting, knitting and reading. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Jean’s memory to St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 411 Wopsononock Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
