Joann L. (Thompson) Reese Sept. 30, 1929-Nov. 22, 2020
Joann L Reese (Thompson) 91, Altoona, died Sunday, November 22, 2020, at her home. She was born Sep. 30, 1929 in Altoona of Anna (Roesch) and Ferdinand Thompson. She married Robert Reese, October 30, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Robert preceded her in death on Feb. 25,2005.
Joann was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was a past president of the Ladies Guild. She belonged to the Altoona Symphony ACT and enjoyed Blair Concert Chorale. She was part of the St Rose of Lima and Cathedral Choirs.
She graduated from Altoona Catholic High School in 1947 and attended Pittsburgh Business School. She worked as a comptometer operator at the A&P office and retired from Tritex Sportswear.
Joann is survived by her six children, Susan Capozzoli and husband Robert of Pittsburgh PA, Becky Rossi and husband Paul of Phoenixville, PA, Rev. Chris Heller and husband William of Altoona, Father Robert Reese of Fallentimber, Matthew Reese and wife Kaye of Jacksonville FL, and Randy Reese of Jacksonville FL.; Nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Joann was the last surviving child of Ferdinand and Anna Thompson. (Thompson Amusements) Siblings were James, Ferd, Anna Marie Jasper, Hilda Blendl, Josephine Heverly, and Leo.
Joann enjoyed her children and grandchildren most of all followed by reading, crocheting, bowling, and sharing meals and snacks.
Joann spent the past one and one-half years as a resident of Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. The staff there became another family to her as they cared for and nurtured her.
There will be no public viewing. A memorial Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.
