Obituary For John B. Richardson

John B. Richardson Dec. 6, 1951- Nov. 17, 2020

John B. Richardson, 68, Altoona, passed away on Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late John A. and M. Virginia (Rockey) Richardson. John married Betty L. Heiss on June 7, 1975. Surviving are his wife, Betty and their son, Adam J. Richardson (Vanessa Wion) of East Freedom; one grandchild, Savanna Knab; and a brother, Thomas G. (Karen) Richardson of Newport, PA. John was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alana Richardson; his sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Healy and Carole Reed; and a brother, Robert Richardson. He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona High School. John was currently employed with Freedom Excursions and retired from F.L. Smithe Machine Co. and Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center. John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a member and past President of the Unter Uns, a member of the Almraush Schuhplattlers, a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society, a member and past Officer of the Brush Mountain Sportsman’s Club. John belonged to various Jaffa Shrine Units and was a member of the Cesare Battisti Club. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 5th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with Fr. Lubomir Strecok. Covid-19 protocol will be followed. Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.     My very deepest sympathies to John's wife and family. I haven't seen John since probably high school but I remember him from one of my classes and in the halls of AAHS. It is so hard to lose someone you love. Keep good memories close and John will live in your hearts forever. God bless you during this time.

    Betty and Adam we are so sorry for your loss. John will be missed by alot of people. He sure did live life to the fullest. The one thing that comes to mind about him is when he smiled and laughed he lit up! We are surely going to miss him. So will our grandkids! Please take and let us know if you need anything.
