Obituary For John Girard Healy

John Girard Healy

January 24, 1965-September 28, 2024

John Girard Healy, 59, Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born in Altoona, the beloved son of the late Dr. Thomas K. Healy, DDS and Mary Lou (Collins) Healy.

John was known for his warm personality and deep commitment to his church community.

He was the fourth of six children and is survived by his siblings: Diane (Healy) Barry, Patrick Healy, Thomas Healy, Matthew Healy and Daniel Healy.

John earned a Bachelor of Arts from Gallaudet University and furthered his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology for the Deaf. He was deeply involved in the Pinedale Christian Church Deaf Ministry, where he shared his love for the Gospel through several mission trips to Mexico, teaching and uplifting deaf children.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, to honor John’s life and legacy. The family requests that this time of remembrance be kept intimate and private.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to organizations supporting the deaf community, reflecting John’s lifelong dedication to those he served. John will be remembered for his kindness, faith, and the joy he brought to those around him.

Arrangements are provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
