John J. Frena March 18, 1930 – December 2, 2023

John J. Frena, 93, of the Celebration Villa, Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, died Saturday at the Villa. He was born in Homestead,PA son of the late Michael and Anna (Matta) Frena. He married Mary Ann Wargovich June 25, 1960 in Homestead. She preceded him in death on September 3, 2020.

John is survived by a son John M. Frena (Greter) of Westley Chapel, FL, a daughter Theresa Henry (Clifford) of Altoona, two grandchildren: Albert Zafrilla and Jenna Sallemi (Paul) and a brother Michael Frena in Slovakia. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from US Steel, Homestead Works as a Millwright with 35 years of service. John was member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he had been an active volunteer and was a recipient of the Gallitzin Cross.

A Funeral Mass for John will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday December 5, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Father John Lynam. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the St. Rose of Lima Conference of St. Vincent DePaul Society in John’s memory.
