Obituary For John J. Schadenfroh

John J. Schadenfroh Aug. 12, 1951-April 20, 2022

John J. Schadenfroh, 70, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late John N. and Helen (Trendle) Schadenfroh. John married Susan A. Wertz in 1984. John is survived by his loving wife; two children, a son, John J. Schadenfroh, II of Schwenksville and a daughter, JoAnn Schadenfroh of Deltona, FL. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph E. Schadenfroh and a brother, James Schadenfroh. John was a 1969 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era, having served 16 years with the US Air Force and later in the US Army Reserves. John retired from Veeder-Root, after more than 40 years of service. He was a member with the Schellsburg VFW-Post 4440, the Bavarian Aide Society and the New Baltimore Sportsman’s Club. John was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Schadenfroh cabin. John will be dearly missed as a wonderful father, husband and friend. Friends will be received from 4-6 pm on Monday, April 25, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. where a funeral service will follow at 6 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel.
