Obituary For John 'Jack" L. Steinbugl

John ‘Jack’ L. Steinbugl April 2, 1936-April 16, 2021

John ‘Jack’ L. Steinbugl, 85, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. Jack was born in Altoona, the son of the late Louis F. and Geraldine A. (Fraunhofer) Steinbugl. He married Lois J. Adams on July 12, 1958, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years. He is survived by his loving wife; two sons: Col (R) L. Frank (Dawn) Steinbugl and John R. (Jacqueline) Steinbugl; a daughter, Laura A. (Mark) Maier all of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Justin, Rachel, Adam (Amber), Bryant, Corey (Megan) and Tyler Steinbugl, Devin Roberts and Madeline Maier; and three great-grandchildren: Camryn, Halei and Emalia Steinbugl. Jack was a 1954 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Jack retired from NCR Co. in 1993. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his cottage on the Juniata River. Jack was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter, loved growing flowers and gardening. He was a member of the Brush Mountain Sportsmen’s Association, Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns Society, Swiss Club, Concordia Society and the Knights of Columbus. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1405 5th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, officiated by Fr. Lubomir Strecok. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements are provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to: St. Mary’s Memorial Fund, 1405 5th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602.
