Jon H. Close Dec. 30, 1941-Jan. 28, 2021

Jon H. Close, 79, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Thursday evening. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late John M. and Truth (Miller) Close. Jon married Patricia Gehard on September 14, 1979 in Winchester, VA. Jon is survived by his wife; and daughters, Sherrie O’Brian and companion Michelle Conrad of Altoona, Traci (Charles) Chaney of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Danielle McCashin of Leeds, UK, Taylor Maloney of Hollidaysburg, Tristan Chaney of Lackland Air Force Base; and two brothers, Jay M. Close of Altoona and Jud B. Close of SC. He was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam era, serving as a Sergeant in a surgical hospital. Jon retired from New Enterprise Stone and Lime as a truck driver. Jon enjoyed motorcycles, go carts and anything that went fast; he especially loved NASCAR.
