Obituary For Joseph E. Bott

Joseph E. Bott September 23, 1932 – October 24, 2021 Joseph E. Bott, 89, Altoona, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Eugene J. and Maria T. (Enders) Bott. He married Eleanor Willmerdinger on September 4, 1954 and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2000. Surviving are two sons: Stephen J. (Julie) of York, SC and David J. (Patricia) of Lewes, DE; four grandchildren: Katie Wojtowicz (Evan), Christopher Bott, Andrew Bott and Daniel Bott; a great-granddaughter, Adela Wojtowicz; and a sister, Rose Ehgartner of Altoona. He was preceded in death by three sisters and their husbands: Anna F. Reindl (Whitey), Elizabeth Seasoltz (Thomas) and Marie Oswald (Ernest); and two daughters-in-law: Marie Bott and Susan Bott. Joseph was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He retired from Conrail as Chief District Claims Agent in 1988. Following his retirement, Joseph joined the staff at Dembert and Hoyne, where he worked until his death. Joe was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona. He was a member of the Bavarian Aide Society and Unter Uns Club. Joe enjoyed landscaping and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football games. He will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona by Fr. Lubomir Strecok. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Joseph’s memory to: St. Mary’s Memorial Fund, 1400 Fifth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
