Obituary For Joseph Louis Saad, Sr.

Joseph Louis Saad Sr. Nov. 8, 1972 – Feb. 16, 2021

Joseph (Joe) Louis Saad, 48, of Richmond Texas, passed away unexpectedly at home from COVID-19. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Joe was lovingly adopted on January 1, 1977 by the late Dr. William Saad and Barbara “Bonnie” (Coughlin) Saad in Buffalo, New York. After the Saad family moved to Pennsylvania, he became a U.S. citizen at the Blair County courthouse with Judge Thomas Peoples presiding, surrounded by his family and his first-grade classmates from Saint Rose of Lima.

Joe was preceded in death by an infant son, Everest Valor Saad, and his father Dr. William Saad. He is survived by his wife Taylor. He is also survived by five children, who he adored: Alyssa (Christian Strickland) Saad, Joseph Saad, Jr., Jaden Saad, Addison Saad, and Justice Saad. He is also survived by a granddaughter Denise Strickland; his mother Bonnie Stevens (Joseph), his sister Dr. Michelle Barnes (David), and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was a 1991 graduate of Hollidaysburg Senior High School, where he was a standout soccer player and served as senior class president. He graduated in 1996 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant management. He was currently employed as a Human Resource benefits coordinator for WCA Waste in Houston, Texas and was the owner of Shook Carpet Cleaning.

Joe’s passion and first love was being a family man. He loved to live life and make people laugh. He was an entrepreneur at heart and a perfectionist, always making sure everything was just right. He loved to cook, play keyboards, compose music, bike and kayak. He was especially fond of treating his kids to “donut Fridays” before school and taking his baby girl Justice for outings at the neighborhood playground. Joe was a kind person with so much love to give who made a positive impact on people everywhere he went. He truly loved with an open heart and never hesitated to help and do good for others. He will be terribly missed and will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. Local arrangements will be handled by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc.

Saad Family- Joe was a client of mine during his time at WCA in Houston, TX. I shared many laughs with him- mostly during meetings when we were supposed to be talking business, Joe would use that time to share valuable parenting advice instead. He absolutely loved his family and it showed in every interaction I had with him. You all are in my heart during this time of such a profound loss.

We remember going to the airport to meet Joey when he first came to the USA to meet Bonnie, Bill, and his new big sister, Michelle. He was so blessed to have been adopted by such a wonderful family, and one that would help him adjust to his new home. Joey was charming, smart, and helpful, and he was always smiling. You always knew he would be there if you needed him. Joey, You left this earth but never our hearts. Rest in peace. We love you. Love, Aunt TreAnn and Uncle Don

I am so, so, so sad to hear of his passing. Joe had a light within him that few possess. Whenever I think of him, that light is what I feel. He reached out with his heart to people with the utmost sincerity. That takes deep courage. Thank you, Joe, for beaming your light toward me. I'll always remember having fun playing together when we were kids and just being silly. 🙂

I knew Joe through bowling on Weds nights. He was always first to say hello or throw a wave at you. Just a fun and kind person and will be missed. My heartfelt prayers to his family who must carry on without him; he'll forever be your angel in heaven watching over you. This week, we are scheduled to play his team; it'll be a somber week without his bright smile. Until we meet again Joe, rest easy.

Many of the most memorable times of my youth centered around Joe and just driving around aimlessly in his brown punch bug (BOB). He could bring humor to the most awkward situation. It's regretable that life gets in the way and we lose touch with people we shared so many memories with. He will always have a special place in my heart. Deepest sympathies to his friends and family. He will never be forgotten. Love, Mark Campbell and Family

Dear Mrs. Saad, I am so sorry. What a tremendous loss. While I haven't seen Joey since I was last a patient of your wonderful husband a few decades ago, I just wanted to pay my respects. In high school Joey was such a bright light and beautiful spirit. He dubbed himself my "big brother" since mine already graduated and would always come up to me, throw an arm around my shoulder, flash a million-watt smile and say "what's up sis?" He was an incredible athlete, had a great crazy laugh and never failed to make me laugh with a bad joke or silly dance moves. My prayers for strength and peace are with you and his family. God bless you always. Sincerely, Sandra Schatanoff
