Joseph “Pepsi” Dorfmeister

November 13, 1940-August 2, 2023

Joseph “Pepsi” Dorfmeister, 82, Altoona, passed away Wednesday.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Joseph and Grace (Rimbeck) Dorfmeister. Joe married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Lingenfelter on November 16, 1968.

He is survived by his loving wife and three daughters: Jennifer Dorfmeister, Amy Dorfmeister (Doug) and their son, Jack, Beth Ann Benzing (Andy) and their children, Madison, Alexandra and Andrew, all living in the Philadelphia area. He has two older sisters who lived in the Altoona area, Ann McGeary (deceased) and Grace Minealle; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Altoona High School, class of 1960.

He served in the U.S. Army National Reserve Unit for six years after high school.

Joe worked in the electrical contracting industry for 40 years. He did his apprenticeship at Neff Electric and later with IBEW Local #5-Pittsburgh. Joe took his master’s electricians exam in 1970, served on the electrical examining board for 15 years. He also had a small home rental business.

Joe was so proud of his three daughters’ accomplishments all through their life. He truly loved his family and four grandchildren. He gave his family an amazing life filled with goodness, generosity and unconditional love.

Family and friends will be received from 4-6 pm, Monday, August 7, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Drew McCaffery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, contributions be made in Joe’s memory to the: Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Fl. 17 Chicago, Il 60601/www.alz.org.

    Dear Dorfmeister family--I was just looking online and saw that your husband, Dad and grandpap passed this week, on Wednesday, 08/02/2023. I speak for my family when I say how sad to read this and to know that you are experiencing this loss of someone so special to you all. My father, William Rupp, still lives in his home on Walton Ave, along with his nephew, Bill 3rd. Our memories and experiences of living so close to your family on the same avenue will forever be cherished in our thoughts. Our deepest sympathy to your family from our family.
