Josie recently celebrated her 100th birthday with two special dinners. One with her family, and the second with her Graystone Family.

Jo was preceded in death by sisters Catherine Esposti and Helen Wasson, and brothers Peter and John.

She is survived by her niece Carol Parris, Carol’s children, Mike (Tina), and Kara (Pete) and their daughter, Mitella, along with her nephew John Gallace, his wife Betsy, and their children Don (Ashley), Becca, Jimmy, and Tony. Also surviving is a very special cousin, Virginia Seidel, and several other cousins.

She was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Beneficial Finance Co. after 42 years of service.

Josephine was a member of Friends of The Altoona Area Public Library, Park Hills Country Club, and a former member of Soroptimists International of Blair County, Catholic Daughters of America, and Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a life member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and always enjoyed helping out at the church festival. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, and golfing.

Josie still played golf at the age of 95, walking 9 holes with her 92-year-old brother Pete.

The family would like to thank the staff at Graystone Manor Altoona for their compassion and excellent care of Jo these past two years. She truly felt like she was a member of their family.

There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, by the Fransican Fathers. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Josephine’s memory to: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 806 11th St., Altoona, Pa. 16602.
