Obituary For Judith A. Goldblum

Judith A. Goldblum

July 22, 1946 - October 1, 2023

Judith Ann “Judy” Goldblum passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the age of 77. She was born on July 22, 1946, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late Samuel Ianuzzi and Adeline “Dolly” (Frezza) Ianuzzi.

A 1964 graduate of the Altoona Area High School, Judy went on to study at Penn State University, earning her bachelor’s in education in 1968. She was hired by the Connellsville Area School District and dedicated 35 years of her life teaching second and third grades at South Connellsville and Zachariah Connell Elementary Schools, positively impacting the lives of countless students.

Judy will be deeply missed by her surviving family, including daughters Molly Murer of Denver, Colorado, and Marnie Eckert of Terrace Park, Ohio, and her son-in-law Chad Eckert, whom she loved as a son. Judy also leaves behind five adoring grandchildren: Ian Murer, and Caden, Callan, Ciaran, and Coraline Eckert. She is survived by her brothers Terry Ianuzzi and Sam Ianuzzi, both of Altoona, and her sister-in-law, Janet Ianuzzi, whom she loved as a sister. Additionally, Judy will be fondly remembered by numerous cousins, and close friends who became family to her. She was preceded in death most recently by her brother, Steve Ianuzzi.

Outside of her professional life, Judy established a love for golf and treasured the camaraderie of the Bud Murphy's golf league at Donegal Highlands for over twenty years. Most recently, she took up bowling and enjoyed developing her skills with the Golden Girls at Yough Lanes. Reading and gardening rounded out her interests, but her favorite pastime always remained spending time with her husband, David, whose passing in 2021 impacted her greatly. They shared a love about which words can do no justice and are once again reunited.

Friends will be received at 12 o'clock noon on Monday, October 16th at St. Rita Roman Catholic Church, 116 S. 2nd Street, Connellsville, PA, 15425, with a funeral mass to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private and take place at Calvary Cemetery in Altoona.

Donations in Judy's memory can be made to the Connellsville Area Falcon Foundation, 201 Falcon Drive, Connellsville, PA 15425. casdfalconfoundation.org

My deepest sympathies. Judy was my 3rd grade teacher and a shining example of how to be a great teacher and person. I try to treat students in my classroom the same way today and some of that I am sure I learned from her. Some great memories from way back when. God bless. Andrew Dugger
