Obituary For Julia "Judy" A. Rowan

Julia A. “Judy” Rowan Oct. 20, 1943-May 24, 2022

Julia A. “Judy” Rowan, 78, Altoona, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness. She was born in Logan Township, Blair County, the daughter of the late Peter P. and Margaret J. (Padula) Shalock. Julia married Anthony W. Rowan at Lakeshore Congregational Church in Milwaukee, WI on Oct. 14, 1995. Julia is survived by her loving husband; a brother, Michael Shalock; two sisters: Dorothy Singer and Patricia Carrieri both of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen DeArmitt. Julia was a 1963 graduate of Altoona High School and received her Associates Degree as a Legal Assistant, from Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she also earned her certificate in Real Estate. Through her working career in Milwaukee, Julia had worked for RCA, Whirlpool and Shaw Oil Co. She was attending the Altoona Bible Church. Julia was an avid painter, enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Logan Valley Cemetery, with Pastor Aaron Harris officiating.
