Obituary For Karen A. Pacifico

Karen A. Pacifico Feb. 12, 1948 – April 15, 2023 Karen A. Pacifico, 75, Altoona, passed away Saturday morning at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward and Virginia (Heverly) Lee, Jr. On Sept. 8, 1983, she married Mark B. Pacifico in Cumberland, MD. She is survived by her husband; a son, Richard Caramadre (Lisa) of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters: Gina Caramadre of Jacksonville, FL, Dina Conrad (Dwight) of Altoona, and Angela Carrick (Kelly) of St. Augustine, FL; six grandchildren: Micheal Caramadre, Rudy Caramadre, Billy Conrad, Benjamin Conrad, Nina Ullery, and Ashley Wibbens; five great-grandchildren: Cameron, Cash, Winter Jade, Kensley, and Chase; two brothers: Thomas Updyke (Gayle) of Greenbay, WI and Edward Lee III of Altoona; and two sisters: Edwarda Lee of Cheyenne, WY and Sylvia Colyer (Randy) of Altoona. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Shultz. Karen attended Altoona Area High School. She had a long history in the food service/hospitality industry, having worked at the Sheraton, Heidelberg Country Club, and Park Hills Country Club. Karen was a volunteer at St. Mary Catholic Church, working the fish frys. She was also active with the Boy Scouts Pack 3025, where she was a Committee Chair. Karen loved to bake holiday cookies and enjoyed gardening, quilting, trips to the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from noon until 2pm on Friday, April 21, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, where a recitation of the rosary will be held at 1:30 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Father Clem Gardner officiating. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family requests that donations in memory of Karen, be made to the St. Mary’s Memorial Fund, to benefit the Memorial Hall, 1405 5th Ave., Altoona PA 16602 or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, mda.donordrive.com, in honor of Cameron Ullery, or Apraxia Kids, 1501 Reedsdale Street, Suite 202, Pittsburgh, PA 15233, www.apraxia-kids.org, in honor of Cash.     You were a large part of a lot of the joy of my childhood and when I look back I will always be thankful for the friendship you and my mom had and for the way we always felt more like family than friends.
