Katherine A. (Merilli) Wagner November 28, 1959-August 14, 2023

Katherine A. (Merilli) Wagner, 63, Altoona, passed away Monday, Aug. 14th at UPMC Altoona, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Robert J. and Theresa A. (Tartaglio) Merilli.

She is survived by her parents; two brothers: Phil G. Merilli (Lola) of Wexford and Michael G. Merilli of Sedona, AZ; her partner, Denny Doll; nieces: Kyla T. (Merilli) Moehring (Ben), Danielle C. (Merilli) Capezzi (James), Shelby J. (Merilli) White (Brian); great-nephews, Gunnar and Arlen Capezzi and great-niece, Evelyn Capezzi; also, surviving is her aunt, Joanne (Merilli) Beringer.

Kathy was a 1977 graduate of Altoona High School and graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She began her career as an accountant with Moses & Johnson and later at Young, Oakes, Brown & Company. Kathy was currently the Vice-President of finance at The Blair Companies for many years.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Kathy had been a board member at the Home Nursing Agency, the Altoona Symphony Orchestra and a finance committee member for the Diocese of Altoona/Johnstown. She was a member at the Blairmont Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf.

Kathy had a passion for Sedona, Arizona, Pawleys Island, South Carolina and her 2 golden retrievers. She was an avid supporter of Penn State, Altoona, but most importantly, Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on September 2, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 344 Baynton Ave. Lakemont, Altoona, Pa. 16602, with Msgr. Michael Becker. Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held for family & friends from 1-4 pm, Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023 at The Casino at Lakemont Park, 300 Lakemont Park Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602.

The family requests that contributions be made in Kathy’s memory to: St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 309 Lotz Ave., Lakemont, Altoona, Pa. 16602 or Home Nursing Agency Foundation, 20 Sheraton Dr., Altoona, Pa. 16601.
