Kathy Jo Horton

Sept. 10, 1955 - Jan. 15, 2024

Kathy Jo Horton, 68, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Leo and Thelma (Hetrick) Weigand.

Kathy married James Horton who preceded her in death on March 8, 2012.

Kathy is survived by her children: Justin Horton and Carrie Taddy (Matt), both of Altoona; three grandchildren: Kristen Kimes, Austin Jenkins and Landon Fagen; two great-grandchildren, Kolton and Jaxson Ruiz; and her siblings, Jim Weigand (Carol) in Florida and Bev McVey in Texas.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Bob, Rick, Bill and Raymond Weigand; and her sisters: Judy Weigand, Barbara Weigand and Dori Sardella.

Kathy was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

She was employed in the bakery department at Wal-Mart for 26 years.

Kathy was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society.

She enjoyed going to the beach, gambling, going on car rides, and loved spending time with the dog, Archie.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dennis Braun. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
