Obituary For Kenneth A. Hatch

Kenneth A. Hatch January 12, 1942 – July 2, 2021 Kenneth A. Hatch, 79, Altoona, died Friday at UPMC Altoona after an extended illness. Ken was born in Altoona, the beloved son of Beverly George and Erma Grace (McAteer) Hatch. On December 28, 1963, he married Judy Georgiana. They were married 57 ½ years and shared 61 years of love and friendship. He is survived by his wife, Judy; a devoted son Kenneth A. “Buddy” Hatch II; his “Daddy’s girl” Kelly Sutt and her husband and Ken’s loving son-in-law, Larry; three grandchildren and the light of his life: Adam, Hayley and Alina Sutt. He was raised in a tight-knit family of eighteen children and is survived by two brothers and four sisters: Dick (Emilie), Rose Everhart (Bob), Tim (Debbie), Kathy Lechner (George, deceased), Connie Cook (Doug), Mary Jane Mincin (Jim); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Anna Mae Hatch, Joe and Paula Georgiana and Denny and Patty Georgiana. He was also blessed with many amazing nieces and nephews, especially Denny Hatch who was such a help during Ken’s sickness. Ken was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters: William, Earl, Madeline Burns, Bernadine Blodgett, Beverly “Bo”, Eugene, Louis, Erma Grace Strickland, Mike, Pat (Donna) and Debbie Barr. He was also preceded in death by lifelong friends: Denny DeLeo and Joe Stangl. Ken was a proud graduate of the 1961 class of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. He loved his years at ACHS/BGHS and his many lifelong friends. Sadly, he will miss his 60th year reunion in September. He retired from Penn Dot after 30 years as the purchasing agent and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Ken was a man of great presence who enjoyed the simple things in life. Getting up every day and taking care of his home and family was what made him happy. He will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be a Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made for a Bishop Guilfoyle student scholarship, in care of BG Class of 1961, 403 Beaumont Drive, Altoona, PA 16602.
