Obituary For Kenneth Van Beck

Kenneth Van Beck

October 10, 1951-September 14, 2023

Kenneth Van Beck, 71, Altoona, passed away suddenly Thursday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Reuben and Thelma (Wilson) Beck. Van married Sandra M. Wilson on Oct. 30, 1971.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; his son and wife, Kenneth Aaron and Shelley Beck of Altoona; a grandson, Jayce Hettinger; his twin brother, Norman Dan Beck and brother, Scott Beck; sisters, Eunice Beck and June Pringle and her husband, Tom; mother-in-law, Gladys M. Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

Van was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Beck and his father-in-law, Kenneth J. Wilson.

He was a 1970 graduate of Altoona Area High School and was in the PA National Guard.

Van retired in 2016 from Univar with 29 years of service and was previously employed by Penstan, Norfolk Southern and Pine Brothers Hardware.

He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church where he served on various committees.

Van enjoyed attending his son and grandson’s athletic events, watching and attending Penn State University football games and camping at Raystown with his family.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Monday, September 18, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1505 E. Walton Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. Interment will be held at Alto Reste Park with military honors.
