June 3, 1945-September 19, 2023
Leroy Benjamin Hogans, 78, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Daniel Webster and Arminta (Lee) Hogans.
Leroy is survived by his three daughters: Shelly Hogans, Angela (Hogans) Rennick, Sandra “Pebbles” Bopp and husband Ray; and their mother, Ruby L. Hogans; four grandchildren: Ti Alexander Williams, Malik Thomas, Jalen David Bopp and Antonio Thomas; his siblings: Daniel Webster Hogans, Jr., Helen H. Clark, Gloria H. Porcher and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter, LaBrandice Del Ray, daughter of Lucinda Hogans and nine siblings: James Holly, Herbert Holly, Louis Holly, Marguerite Groce, Albert Holly, William Hogans, Alice Alexander, Ruth Miller and Amelia H. Banks.
Leroy served in the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed playing cards, model trains and fixing cars. Leroy was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Hope Community Church, 1520 11th St., Altoona, Pa. 16601 with Pastor Paul Johnson and Minister Jon Hogans. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
