Leroy Thomas “Lee” Schultz

Leroy Thomas “Lee” Schultz, 85, of Altoona, passed away on Monday at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Edward D. and Edith L. (Powell) Schultz.

Lee spent much of his adult life in Fort Bragg, California, where he lived from 1964 to 1998 before returning to Altoona. He was a professional newspaper printer with the Fort Bragg Advocate-News from 1964-1975, then founded and owned S&S Printing in Fort Bragg from 1975 until selling the business and retiring in 1998. He served his community as a longtime member and multi-term President of the Fort Bragg Kiwanis Club.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from July 13, 1959 to July 6, 1962, including service in Vietnam in 1962, attaining the rank of SP4 with a specialization in E-4 (T).

Lee married Patricia M. “Patty” Lilly in 1975; she preceded him in death in 2016. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and an enthusiastic boater, water skier, fisherman, and camper. He was a lifelong collector of stamps, miniature trains, and German beer steins, and a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants. Lee also enjoyed researching companies for stock trades and investments.

He is survived by his three children: Jasmine Schultz of Altoona, David Schultz of Boise, ID; and Mike Schultz of Fairfax, VA; four grandchildren: Helena Schultz, Gabe Schultz, Josh Ngiratmab, and Danielle Brentner; and five great-grandchildren: Arabella Foster, Aurora Brentner, Isaac, Dylan and Jordan Ngiratmab.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edith Schultz; his wife, Patty Schultz; and his brothers, Dick and Ron Schultz.

Friends will be received from 10 am-noon on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

A funeral service will immediately follow at noon in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Douglas McGaffin. Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
