Obituary For Linda Ragot Wolf
Linda Ragot Wolf
May 14, 1939-November 28, 2023
Linda Ragot Wolf, 84, Altoona, peacefully passed away at her residence on Tuesday morning, succumbing to abdominal cancer.
She was born in Medina, Misamis, Oriental Philippines, the daughter of the late Juan and Rosario E. (Rubin) Ragot. Linda married Charles “Chuck” Wolf on December 20, 1969 in Medina.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 54 years; two daughters: Kathleen Wolf of Altoona and Dr. Kristina Subik, M.D. (husband, Dana) of Albany, NY; three grandsons: Spencer, Avery and Xavier Subik; her brother, Manuel Ragot and sister, Dr. Purisima Atupan, both of the Philippines; also many relatives in the Philippines and around the world. Also, she enjoyed hot fudge sundaes, talking with Oying (even with the confusion of 12-hour time zone differences), arranging flowers and decorating for holidays.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and four sisters. She was comforted by anticipating joining friends and relatives in heaven.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from St. Theresa’s College, Manila, the Philippines. Linda had been a Spanish, English and Filipino language teacher at the Medina National Comprehensive High School in the Philippines. In September 1968, she met Chuck when he arrived at her school to help teach mathematics as his Peace Corps assignment. She taught at Bishop Guilfoyle High School. Most recently, she worked for Sears and Macy’s where she enjoyed interacting with people and was often recognized for her excellent customer service.
Linda was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, taught CCD, lectored at daily and Sunday Masses and was President of the Parish Council, participated in and often led the Rosary, and contributed flowers from her garden.
She experienced great joy in gardening and growing flowers, especially, hostas and orchids. Linda loved traveling the world, including China, Japan and particularly Israel and many countries in Europe as part of religious tours. She was fluent in Visayan, Tagalog, Spanish, Italian and English. Scrabble was her favorite game. She loved games and all activities that included her daughters and/or grandsons.
Friends will be received from 2-5 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, December 4, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 6th Avenue, Altoona, Pa. 16602, concelebrated by Fr. John Lynam and others. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
The family suggests that contributions be made in Linda’s memory to: American Cancer Society, PO Box 862 Carnegie, Pa. 15106/cancer.org/givehope or Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648. We especially want to thank the UPMC Hospice group, who are truly wonderful and helpful people, the friends from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and friends and relatives who offered prayers and help during a difficult time and the fellow workers and customers from Macy’s.
