Louise Keddie Dougherty, 89, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully with her loved ones at her side at Graystone Manor in Altoona, PA. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Thomas A. Dougherty and sister, Susan Zakis.
She is survived by her six children: Brigid (Dan) Sheedy, Kathleen (Dan) Crain, Meg (Frank) DiNardo, Maureen (Lou) Steinbugl, Tom (Annie) Dougherty, Moira (Walter) Hammond. She was further blessed with twenty-one (21) grandchildren: Ryan, Christopher, Matthew, Eric, Michael, Brian, Ali, Kristen, Andrew, Tripp, Sean, Lauren, Alois, Megan, Max, Jack, Abbie, Claire, Trey, Sophia and Mary Carol as well as thirteen (13) great-grandchildren: Cullen, Ryan, Mia, Reynolds, Campbell, Louisa, Maddy, Emily, Hazel, Leo, Mack, Sophia, and Emmett.
Louise was born in McKeesport, PA on September 2, 1933, to Daniel and Margaret (Campbell) Keddie. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1951 with additional studies at Penn State University.
Louise was well known for her contagious smile and kind words she had for everyone. Family and friends meant everything to her. She was an avid card player, gardener, reader, and knitter. Louise’s faith was always a priority in her life, and she cherished her friendships developed in her church study group. Her passion to serve and desire to give back flowed into the community and led her to volunteer at multiple organizations including Columbiettes, Saint Vincent dePaul, Country Meadows, and Corpus Christi (Holy Child), and others.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 10:00 am, with Monsignor Stanley Carson as celebrant, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, PA 16601.
A special thank you to the dedicated and caring staff at Graystone Manor Altoona and Gentiva Hospice.
Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
