Marcella A. (Bator) Salvi

January 14, 1938 – March 12, 2025

Marcella A. (Bator) Salvi, 87, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon. Born in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Joan Bator. Marcella married Ernest Salvi on October 30, 1954, and they shared 59 loving years together before his passing on June 23, 2013.

She is survived by five children: Vincent (Anita) Salvi of Millville, Delaware; Damian (Diane) Salvi of York, PA; Christine (Mark) Myers; Joan (Randy) Donnelly; and Pamela (Steve) Brumbaugh, all of Altoona. Marcella also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her brother, Joseph.

Marcella was a devoted parishioner of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she dedicated countless hours of service to both the church and the school. She was a gifted homemaker and became famous for her Italian cooking, where friends and family knew a visit to the Salvi home always meant a delicious meal.

In her leisure time, Marcella enjoyed playing cards, reading, entertaining friends, and spending quality time with her family, especially during their annual beach vacations.

Her family and all who knew her were touched by her boundless love, generosity, and selfless service. She truly lived by the belief that “it is in giving that we receive.”

Friends will be received on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 9:30 am at Saint Rose of Lima Church, Altoona, by Fr. John Lynam, celebrant. Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
