Maria C. (Karnes) SchirfNov. 14, 1955-July 25, 2022Maria C. 'La La' (Karnes) Schirf, 66, Altoona, passed away at her home on Monday morning after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She spent the last days of her life surrounded by family and friends whom loved her to the moon and back. She was born in Butler, the daughter of the late William and Jean (Andreassi) Karnes, Sr. Maria married Matthew J. Schirf, Sr. on October 27, 1990 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Altoona. Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, Matt; a daughter, Angela Cobler and son-in-law, Daniel; a son, Matthew J. Schirf, Jr. and soon to be wife, Regina Shuff; two grandsons, whom she loved dearly, Brendan and Camden Cobler; a brother, William Karnes; her three sisters: Sylvia Villadolid, Andrea Karnes and Gina Brandt all of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews that she loved as her own. Maria was a light to all who knew her. She accepted everyone she met into her life with unconditional love. Once you became her friend, you were her family. Maria was an excellent cook and enjoyed getting together for “Sunday Dinner” with her loved ones. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved to sing and dance. Maria brought fun wherever she went, and her smile was unforgettable. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus with Fr. D. Timothy Grimme celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
