Marilyn L. Kelley, 70, Altoona, passed away at UPMC Altoona on Saturday after an extended illness. She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Raymond L. and Louise M. (Wyland) Buck. On April 19, 1975, Marilyn married Patrick A. Kelley. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband; a brother-in-law, Bruce K. Kelley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including cousin Cathy A. Madden, whose sense of humor and perpetual smile Marilyn always appreciated. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Raymond Ronald Buck. Marilyn was a 1970 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, where she was on the newspaper staff and sang in the chorus. During that time, she also sang in the St. Rose of Lima church folk choir. She then went on to attend Penn State Altoona and University Park, where she graduated with a degree in secondary education. While at Penn State Altoona, she was part of the Student Government Association. She was an avid fan of British Invasion era music, Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Marilyn enjoyed doing genealogy, playing along with the “Jeopardy!” game show and loved watching QVC. She also was a dedicated crossword puzzle solver and reader of romance novels. Marilyn was a lifelong cat lover. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, Monsignor Michael Becker, officiant.
