Obituary For Marilyn Mitchell Tercero
Marilyn Mitchell Tercero
March 17, 1930-December 5, 2025
Marilyn Mitchell Tercero, age 95 of Martinsburg, PA, formerly of Dagsboro, DE, and Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Marilyn, also known as Meesie, Mom and Dabba was the daughter of the late William Lloyd and Jessie Henderson Mitchell. Born in Atlanta, GA, on St. Patrick’s Day 1930, she grew up in Washington, DC, graduating Wilson High School in 1948. She worked for the CIA for a short time before marrying the late J. Kenneth Tercero in 1952. She is survived by her six children, lovingly raised in Silver Spring, MD, Anita Vassallo (Samuel), Kenneth (Irma), Lisa Wolf (Douglas), Patrick (Mary), Margarita Arena (Thomas) and Brian (Nicole). Also survived by fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Corrine Griffin-Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.
Meesie and Ken retired to Dagsboro, DE, where they lived for many years. She was a founding member of Cripple Creek Country Club and an avid golfer, bowler (only woman on her team!) and bridge player. She loved to read. She enjoyed time with many good friends in the Bethany Beach area and especially loved having her children, grandchildren and granddogs visit. Always good-natured, selfless and supportive, she volunteered her time for various organizations and did her utmost to make sure the people around her were happy and comfortable. Her simple pleasure was to sit outside on warm sunny days, soaking up the sun, preferably with a good book in hand.
As she needed more care in later life, Meesie moved to Homewood Living in Martinsburg, PA. The family is very grateful for the warm and loving care she received from the Waterside staff.
On, Saturday, January 31, 2026, the family will receive friends at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 9190 Green Valley Rd., Union Bridge, MD from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow Mass in the church hall. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Old Friends Senior Dog Rescue, 765 Nonaville Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122 or an animal welfare organization of your choice.
Arrangements are provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc.
