Marjorie Ann (Eichenlaub) Goodman

March 6, 1945-May 9, 2025

Marjorie Ann (Eichenlaub) Goodman, 80, of Hollidaysburg, passed away at home last Friday after a long a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Hoover) Eichenlaub. Marjorie married Donald A. Goodman on July 12, 1969 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband; a son, Donald M. Goodman (Jeanette) of Hollidaysburg and a daughter, Angela D. Goodman of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Abigail T. Goodman of New York City; grandsons: Lucas R. Goodman and Mason L. Goodman, both of Hollidaysburg and Caleb D. Matthews of Denver, CO; sisters: Judy Fink of Horseheads, NY, Jeanie Klos of Haymarket, VA and Joan Hampton of Altoona; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rosemary Richardson of Hollidaysburg and brothers: Kenneth Eichenlaub of Lancaster, Duane J. Eichenlaub and Valentine Eichenlaub, both of Altoona.

She was a 1963 graduate of Altoona High School and was employed at W.T. Grants, Haller’s Eagle Bakery and as Assistant Manager of Treese’s Music Store in Hollidaysburg.

Marge was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and the leader of the church’s Girl Scout Troop. She was also the leader of the Frankstown Elementary School Brownie Troop.

Her proudest accomplishment was organizing and conducting the annual Eichenlaub family reunion. This year will mark the 46th consecutive annual reunion.

Marge was athletic and enjoyed bowling and had won the Pennsylvania Women’s State Doubles Championship in the ‘80’s. She had been a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Softball team, which won numerous league championships in the Hollidaysburg YMCA Co-Ed Church Sunday Softball League in the ‘80’s as well. Her other athletic activities included, ice and roller skating, cross country skiing, bicycling, tennis, par 3 golf and volleyball.

She enjoyed working out in the yard, cutting the grass, camping in the great outdoors and especially vacationing in Cocoa Beach, FL with her loving husband.

Friends will be received from 9-10 am on Monday, June 23, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 10 am in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Bowman. Interment will be held at Rosehill Cemetery.
