Martha I. Caldwell-Kauffman

May 4, 1932-June 5, 2024

Martha I. Caldwell-Kauffman, 92, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away, Wednesday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Alvin and Florence (Black) Lloyd.

Martha was twice married, first to Raymond Caldwell, on June 2, 1951, he preceded her in death on January 11, 1976 and secondly, married Gerald B. Kauffman, on January 1, 1986, he preceded her in death on July 18, 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine A. Ferrone and husband, Stephen; three grandchildren: Wendy Payne (James), Misty Musser (Derek) and Brailynn Ferrone; also surviving are two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Ashtyn Payne; and a great-great-grandchild due in November.

Martha was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and the Unter Uns, where she was a Schuhplatter.

Our Granny will be greatly missed for everything she instilled in us that we hold near and dear to our hearts. For instance, the love of doing word searches and drinking coffee. The appreciation for great hair (she never missed her Thursday hair appointment) and stylish clothes. Her appreciation of polka and Glenn Miller music and having a great time dancing. We could always count on her to mend our clothes, to perfectly hang the curtains in our homes, and to make us the most delicious macaroni and cheese and meatballs. However, the one thing that we will miss the most, is how much she loved and took care of us. Our Granny was one in a million. We were lucky to have her and will miss her immensely.

We would like to thank all of the staff at Garvey Manor for the care and compassion that they showed our Granny during her 6-year stay.

At Martha’s request there will be no visitation or service.
