Martin J. Lechner, Sr., 71, Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh.

Marty was born in Altoona, son of the late George and Teresa (Brumm) Lechner. On October 15, 1977, he married Lisa-Marie Hesser.

He is survived by his loving wife; a son, Martin J. Lechner, Jr. (Sara) of Greensboro, NC; a daughter, Teresa-Marie Thomas (Justin) of Gallitzin ; four grandchildren: Calvin, Willa, Nora, and Wren; two brothers: Bill Lechner (Debbie) and Bob Lechner (Shelly), all of Altoona; a sister, LouAnn Stambaugh of Altoona, sister in law, Victoria Hesser; brother in law, Lawrence Hesser; and many nieces, nephews and good neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George Lechner.

Marty was a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and attended Mansfield University.

He retired as a salesman for Imler’s Poultry and previously was general manager of B and B Wholesalers.

Marty was a coach for many youth sports teams, and he loved animals, auto racing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Stevens Memorial Chapel by Fr. Lubomir Strecok.

Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park.
