Mary E. “Betty” Hoover July 2, 1922-Oct. 11, 2021

Mary E. “Betty” Hoover, 99, of Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Albert C. and Mildred (Waltz) Malloy. Mary married Robert E. Hoover on January 21, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1998. Mary is survived by her son, Michael X. and wife Joann Hoover of East Freedom and a grandson, Robert M. and wife Danielle Hoover of TX. She was a graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. Mary went on to work in the Gables Department Store in the Shoe Dept. Mary was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5514 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary’s memory to, Blair Senior Services, 1320 12th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601.
