Obituary For Mary Catherine Moran Aigner
Mary Catherine Moran Aigner August 16, 1930 – February 18, 2021 Mary Catherine (Moran) Aigner passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2021. Making her debut August 16th, 1930, Mary was the first of eight children born to Katie Mariah (McNamara) and Peter Leo Moran. She was preceded in death by siblings: Peter Moran, Veronica Evey, Michael Moran and Joseph Moran; siblings-in-law: Barbara Moran, Merle Evey, and Mary Kay Moran; nephews: Matthew Schraf and Kevin Moran; and the great love of her life, Dr. Frank Aigner. Missing her is a slew of nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and great-nieces, great-nephews and step-grandchildren, including: Peter M. Aigner, Paula M. Fochler (Paul), Mary C. Aigner (Hugh), Patrick G. Aigner (Lauren), Ann E. Wilson (Richard), Kathleen A. Oswald (Ozzie), Michael F. Aigner (Michelle), Elizabeth A. Scott (Karl); Kelley Schraf, Michele Moran, Molly McCue (Lucas), Eileen Mulligan (Paul), Jenny Wilson, Carrie Serra (Chris), Brian Moran (Katren), Kathleen Walters (Ryan), Peter Moran (Rebecca), Meghan Moran (Ben Wagner), Teddy Moran, Julia Hartley (Sean) and Brendan Moran (Jamie). Surviving Mary are brothers: John, James (Kathy) and Dick (Becky) Moran; beloved cousin, Michael (Bridgid) Moran and their children in county Mayo, Ireland; and a brother-in-law, Dr. William (Deborah) Aigner. A graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, Mary worked for Bell Telephone until her retirement in 1989. She was known for always taking the holiday shifts so her co-workers could be home with their families. On October 3, 2003, she married her best friend and soulmate, Dr. Frank Aigner. Her very joy was serving as the matriarch of a large, zany Irish family, spoiling her nieces and nephews, imparting her brand of sage wisdom and then sending them back to their parents with a tin whistle or something equally as bothersome. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Duncansville by Msgr. Robert J. Saly. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at a later date.
