Mary E. Tillard

July 9, 1934-Jan. 25, 2024

Mary E. Tillard, 89, Altoona, peacefully passed away Thursday, surrounded by her family. She was born in Altoona and married Paul G. Tillard on March 31, 1954.

Mary is survived by her loving husband; her two sons: Raymond Tillard of Florida and Michael Tillard of Tenn.; a daughter, Rebecca Bus (Tom) of New York; three grandchildren: Richard Tillard, Brian Tillard and Sarah Tillard; two great-grandchildren: Dominic and Brooke; a sister, Bernice Shoenfelt (Jim) of Altoona and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Tillard and two brothers: George and James Hilton.

Mary was a graduate of Altoona High School.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and Gift Bearer. Mary belonged to the Charismatic Prayer Group.

Mary loved horses, flowers, cardinals, birdwatching and music; but she especially loved spending time with her family.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 6th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602 with celebrant, Fr. John Lynam. Committal will be held at Blair Memorial.

The family suggests that contributions be made in Mary’s memory to: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank, Richard, Brandon and Pinnacle Hospice for the great care they provided to Mary.
